On December 20, I went to Ddalgigol, a small Korean restaurant in Sinchon. It is near the international student dormitories of Yonsei University, across the street from Ewha Womans University. A lot of college students come to the restaurant in search of affordable, tasty meals. They are not disappointed!
While I was studying at Yonsei University in 2014, I often had dinner at the restaurant. When I returned in late 2016, the menu, prices, and the restaurant was the same. I ordered my favorite dish: dolsot bulgogi bibimbap. My friend, Ms. Y, ordered a bowl of Korean ramyeon.
We received some standard banchan side dishes, as well as a small bowl of nondescript soup. Ms. Y’s food arrived first – her ramyeon was piping hot with an egg served on top. Ms. Y enjoyed it, but there was so much that I had to finish it. I did so happily!
My dolsot bulgogi bibimbap contained rice, bulgogi beef, carrots, sesame seeds, and an egg on top. I used my spoon to mix the ingredients with the tangy sauce. In 2014, I loved this dish. In 2016, I found myself enjoying it again!
All in all, Ddalgigol is a cheap restaurant serving standard Korean fare. Students or frugal tourists will enjoy eating at this restaurant. This restaurant was incredibly clean. The service is usually efficient, but can slow down during peak times. If you are in the Yonsei University area, Ddalgigol makes for a great price-conscious meal.
