Do you have a sweet tooth? Are most dessert cafés closed? Insomnia Cookies, open every day until 3 a.m., can help! I visited the New Haven branch with friends on December 27 to check it out.
There are tables, chairs, and stools inside of the building, but most people order takeout. Mr. K, Mr. Z, and I split a six-pack bag of cookies, while Ms. M ordered an ice cream sandwich for herself.
I ate two full cookies: the chocolate chunk and the double chocolate mint. These cookies were as large as my palm! After eating two, I was extremely full. They were both rich in flavor.
Mr. K ate a deluxe chocolate peanut butter cup cookie. It had Reese’s Cup pieces baked into the cookie.
Ms. M’s ice cream sandwich had chocolate chip ice cream in between two snickerdoodle cookies. It was difficult to eat, and some of it spilled in Mr. Z’s car. However, Ms. M said that it was delicious.
It is sad that the Insomnia Cookies’ New Haven branch does not have a better interior. It could be quite a cute café. Nevertheless, it has a good selection of cookies and ice cream that are excellent for takeout.
