Toss Noodle Bar (Berkeley, California, U.S.A.)

Berkeley, California is one of the best-known communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, largely due to the University of California Berkeley. Having never been to the campus before, I decided to head to the city during a particularly warm summer afternoon. I had not eaten lunch, but I was pleased to find a number of different restaurants clustered downtown. On July 7, I checked out Toss Noodle Bar.Read More »

Denny’s (Westbrook, CT, U.S.A.)

As many teenagers growing up in small towns know, late night food options aren’t all that plentiful. On late nights with my friends in Old Saybrook, we had a choice between the McDonalds drive-thru, a Dunkin’ Donuts, a gas station convenience store, and a Denny’s outside of the town lines. Dunkin’ Donuts (West Main Street, Cheshire, CT, U.S.A.)

In the United States, a bitter rivalry exists: Starbucks vs. Dunkin’ Donuts. Fans of Dunkin’ Donuts point to Dunkin’ Donuts’ affordability (and its donuts). Fans of Starbucks argue that Starbucks cafés have nicer atmospheres. Dunkin’ Donuts offers fun, sweet treats, whereas Starbucks caters to a more hipster, selective crowd. Although I like both, I am solidly on #TeamDD, and my December 31 trip to the Dunkin’ Donuts 461 West Main Street branch in Cheshire, CT showed why.Read More »

The Stand (Branford, CT, U.S.A.)

On December 27, I visited The Stand in Branford, Connecticut. I went with two friends on the day after Boxing Day. It has a classic American barn décor, and includes a restaurant with a bar and a small stage for live performances. The weather was cold outside, but the restaurant had a warm and friendly vibe to it.Read More »
