In the United States, a bitter rivalry exists: Starbucks vs. Dunkin’ Donuts. Fans of Dunkin’ Donuts point to Dunkin’ Donuts’ affordability (and its donuts). Fans of Starbucks argue that Starbucks cafés have nicer atmospheres. Dunkin’ Donuts offers fun, sweet treats, whereas Starbucks caters to a more hipster, selective crowd. Although I like both, I am solidly on #TeamDD, and my December 31 trip to the Dunkin’ Donuts 461 West Main Street branch in Cheshire, CT showed why.

For Christmas 2016, Dunkin’ Donuts offered three new types of flavored coffees: Crème Brûlée, Fudge Brownie, and Vanilla Cupcake. All three flavors looked delicious, but I ended up ordering an extra-large vanilla cupcake ice coffee.

This Dunkin’ Donuts itself is unremarkable. This Dunkin’ Donuts is in the same building as Lora’s Italian Deli, which has closed. The DD is small, dark, and a little dirty, although the counter was clean. There are not a lot of places to sit.

The vanilla cupcake iced coffee was delicious. It was very, very sweet and it tasted like a real vanilla cupcake. I was happy that I bought an extra-large size, as I drank it very quickly. I do not want to know how much sugar was in the drink.

In general, this Dunkin’ Donuts was not special and a little small. I only came here because I wanted to try the new coffee flavors. The vanilla cupcake iced coffee was good, but people who dislike extremely sweet drinks should stay away.
