Every once in a while, eating at fancy restaurants can be an expensive way to enjoy a special time. While I have enjoyed reviewing restaurants in Korea, I noticed my writing was lacking in two categories: traditional Korean food and upscale establishments. In one fell swoop, I decided to rectify the situation by going to Rosehill Grill. On March 9, I went there and enjoyed a delicious lunch.

Rosehill Grill has traditional Korean food on the menu, and it decidedly falls in sikdang territory. This is an upscale eatery, with prices to match. Its menu has a bit of fusion cuisine to it, offering both western-style steaks and Korean entrées. I ordered yukhoe (육회), a raw beef dish similar to steak tartare, and pajeon (파전), a scallion pancake.

The dishes did not disappoint. The yukhoe was sufficiently seasoned and served with a raw egg on top. The seasoning comprised of sugar, black pepper, minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, spring onion, sesame oil, and sesame seeds, with sliced bae (배) or Korean pear being served on the side. The pajeon was cooked just right, and combined scallions with seafood. It was a bit large for one person.

The food at Rosehill Grill was exquisite, as was the atmosphere of the interior. The prices, however, are no joke: one steak item costs ₩200,000 or approximately $187.87 USD. This is a restaurant for date night or for celebrations; not one you eat anju (안주) or bar food in. If I were to return, I would want to try some of their steak selection.
