I have written about the Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks rivalry before:
In the United States, a bitter rivalry exists: Starbucks vs. Dunkin’ Donuts. Fans of Dunkin’ Donuts point to Dunkin’ Donuts’ affordability (and its donuts). Fans of Starbucks argue that Starbucks cafés have nicer atmospheres.
I love Dunkin’ Donuts, but the atmosphere of many Dunkin’ Donuts’ branches are simply bland and uninteresting. However, Dunkin’ Donuts’ 1021 South Main Street branch in Cheshire, Connecticut is cute and cozy. I visited with friends on December 29th.Read More »
Korean pizza is a hotly debated topic amongst Western expats living in South Korea. Korean pizza usually is sprinkled with all sorts of toppings, from bulgogi beef, sweet potato paste, French fries, shrimp, to, most controversially, kernels of corn. I hail from Connecticut, home of the United States’ top ranked pizza, but I have a soft side for Korean pizza. When a friend from New York City was in town, I made sure that she tried some Korean pizza. On June 19, we tried The Pizza Boyz in Hapjung. Read More »
It is not a secret that I love a good brunch restaurant. When I was in college, I routinely drove to The Tea Kettle in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. On December 30, I returned for a mid-morning meal.Read More »
Due to the fact that I live in Dangsan, there are three great parks that are easily accessible: Hangang River Park, Saetgang Ecological Park, and Seonyudo Park. It goes without saying that the Seonyudo Park, which sits on an island in the Han River, is gorgeous. But, many people might not know that the Seonyudo Station area is really quaint. On a sunny Sunday afternoon in late spring, my significant other and I stumbled upon the area in search of donuts. We returned on June 15 to try El Dia for dinner.Read More »
In the United States, a bitter rivalry exists: Starbucks vs. Dunkin’ Donuts. Fans of Dunkin’ Donuts point to Dunkin’ Donuts’ affordability (and its donuts). Fans of Starbucks argue that Starbucks cafés have nicer atmospheres. Dunkin’ Donuts offers fun, sweet treats, whereas Starbucks caters to a more hipster, selective crowd. Although I like both, I am solidly on #TeamDD, and my December 31 trip to the Dunkin’ Donuts 461 West Main Street branch in Cheshire, CT showed why.Read More »
While dessert cafés are a dime a dozen in Seoul, I always appreciate ones with homemade goodies and relaxing atmospheres. Right after eating dinner at the previously-reviewed Ddalgigol with a friend, we sought somewhere to satisfy our collective sweet tooth. On a warm evening on April 24, we tried Sugar de Chou in Hapjung.Read More »
The white clam pizza at Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven, Connecticut is ranked the best pizza in the United States. Actress Meryl Streep, President Bill Clinton, actor Robert De Niro, and singer Kelly Clarkson have all eaten at Pepe’s. On December 28, I returned to Pepe’s for dinner with four friends.Read More »
On December 22 in Hongdae, I was searching with a friend for a nice place to eat dinner. We were walking in the south of the main area when we saw a sign for Taco Lab: Maxican Casual Grill and Pub. When we entered, the waiter told us that they were having an opening sale.Read More »
On December 20, I went to Ddalgigol, a small Korean restaurant in Sinchon. It is near the international student dormitories of Yonsei University, across the street from Ewha Womans University. A lot of college students come to the restaurant in search of affordable, tasty meals. They are not disappointed!
